Solve Pigment Carbon Black dispersion problem-Beilum Carbon

Pigment Carbon Black is a commonly used color material and has wide applications in various industries. For example, it can be used in fields such as Coatings& Paint, Plastics, Rubber, Printing inks,  Sealant., playing a role in beautification, anti-corrosion, wear resistance, etc.

How should pigment carbon black be dispersed?

In order to fully utilize its characteristics, the following tasks should be completed before dispersion grinding:

  • Mix carbon black and resin evenly;
  • Replace the air and water in the pores with resin;
  • Grind and disperse the large agglomerates in carbon black into small agglomerates or aggregates using the shear force provided by the dispersion equipment. If the above steps can be followed well during the dispersion process, satisfactory blackness, hue, coloring power, luster, stability, and flowability can be achieved.

The dispersion process of environmentally friendly high pigment carbon black is mainly affected by the following three factors:

  • Essential characteristics: The original particle size, structure, and various surface functional groups all have a significant impact on dispersion. Usually, the original particle size is small, the structure is low, and the volatile matter is low, making it difficult to disperse. Conversely, it is relatively easier;
  • User’s formula: The user’s formula, the properties of the base material, solvent, and resin will significantly affect the dispersion, especially the selection of resin for pigment carbon black;
  • Dispersion equipment: The dispersion effect of different dispersion equipment under the same conditions is also greatly different.
