There are two granulation methods for carbon black in the granulation process, namely dry granulation and wet granulation. The difference between these two granulation methods is still very large.
Dry granulation relies on the adsorption force of carbon black itself. The equipment is simple, the cost is low, and the strength of the granulated carbon particles is low, that is, the attraction between carbon black molecules is small, the content of fine powder is high, and the volume is large, less mixed.
Wet granulated black is made by adding water and binder to granulate, and then dried, which will reduce the water content in carbon black to less than 2%. The equipment is relatively complicated, the cost is high, and the particle strength of Granulate carbon black is high, that is, the intermolecular attraction of black carbon is large, the content of fine powder is small, and the dispersion in rubber is good.
The production capacity of dry granulated and Wet Granule production lines is different:
At the beginning of the dry granulation black, the single-line production capacity was only 10,000 tons/year, and later improved and developed to a single-line production capacity of 0.5-0.8 million tons/year, while the single-line production capacity of the wet granulation production line can reach 1.5 10,000 tons/year. Now some manufacturers have improved and developed a new process of wet granulation with a larger single-line production capacity. Generally, the single-line production capacity is 15,000-60,000 tons per year, which far exceeds the production capacity of dry granulated Black carbon.
